Your Learning Coach
In 2005, facing our third international move as a family with young children, I decided to homeschool my oldest “as an experiment – just for one year”. That one year experiment with a 4-year old turned into almost two decades of home education with four children across six countries in Africa and Europe.
I hold a BSc.(Hons) degree and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education, and I started my career teaching biology, science and maths at high school level in the UK. After obtaining an MSc. I worked in education in a range of positions from giving undergraduate students a crash course in teaching skills at an African university to teaching life skills to young offenders in the UK, later landing a role with one of the largest online schools for home-educated students.
I have supported over 230 homeschool students from thirty-eight countries, and have been able to bring my experience as both a classroom teacher and a home educator to support and guide families from the UK and around the globe.
I enjoy working with every single family as we explore options together and brainstorm solutions.
I bring in expertise from Sheelagh Patterson, another teacher trained home-educator who handles all exam booking related queries and advises on IGCSE curriculum choices.
Between us we have home educated 8 children from pre-school, up to IGCSE/GCSE and A-level. Our kids, who range from high fliers to several with SEN challenges, have obtained places at Cambridge and Russel Group universities in courses as diverse as music, veterinary science, engineering, physics, illustration and education.
We understand the challenges and the pressures and we draw on a bank of experience gained from both working in education, and homeschooling our own children.
